What a nice clock! I was surprised at how large it is. I thought from the pictures in Bean's catalogue it was kind of small. It is a nice size and is an extremely retro clock which reminds me of an old electric clock my parents used to have in our 1950's kitchen ( I was extremely young then, of course!). The dial is big and is illuminated in the dark. Even though the clock is "plug-in" electric, it softly ticks. I don't really notice it though. The alarm features a light which pulses on and off and eventually gets brighter. It also has a bell alarm. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. The clock makes me smile everytime I see it in the dark!
This clock is beautiful, the green color is just perfect and I love the dim glow that allows me to see the clock at night, but the clock arrived without a functioning alarm. The light part of the alarm works, but there is no sound whatsoever... I love the look of the clock, but I am very disappointed in the fact that I was sent a defective item.

Great looking clock but....

Prosnot performing as expecte
I borrowed this clock from a friend one weekend. Since I'm deaf, I set the alarm in a flashing method. It was great and it woke me up successfully. Then I decided to order one for myself. When my order arrived and tried it one morning and to my disappointment that it does not wake me up. I learned that the newest model seem to be installed with LED light instead of regular bulb which my friend has the older model with regular bulb that was bright enough to wake me. It may be good to save energy with LED but bad enough that it's not bright enough to wake me and/or anyone up. I would not give this a 5 stars yet till they change the old way back with a regular bulb (not LED). You may question how do I know it has LED with all plastic covered up? It was flashing when my mom woke me up...I looked at the flashing light and it was sorta purple bluish color light and immediately knew it was LED. We all know that the LED isn't a very bright light. I'm still trying to figure it out how to change the bulb by removing the plastic cover where an instruction did not mentioned how to change the light. I may have to call LL Bean or Big Ben Co. for some tips otherwise will have to return it. It's a great looking clock but does not do me any good.

ProsDurable, Performing as Expected
I'm going to compare my new yellow clock to my old one (from about 6 years ago), which finally gave up the ghost. The old one was warmer looking overall, including the flashing bulb, which now is a bluish-white color. But the switches are sturdy and the snooze (used a lot) works easily. My snooze goes off every 10 or 15 min, on the long side. I can trust the alarm.
