I have had one of these clocks for several years now and love it. I just gave one to my brother for Christmas.
The light is a much nicer way to wake up but I always know if the light doesn't work (sometimes I'm really tired), then the alarm will go off. I'm sure I'll give another one as a gift.
I ordered the yellow clock. I absolutely love it and it makes me smile every time I look at it...it is just a happy piece! That said, I have found that, so far, the light has not woken me up. The alarm has a pleasant (but loud) old fashioned ring. I need the backlight on during the night but it is quite bright. Snooze button is located in a good spot and easy to operate. Alarm button also located well and easy to shut off when half asleep. All that said, I really do love this clock! I love all things vintage and unique and I am so glad I bought this item.
purchased for husband as Christmas present...he loved it!! it is larger than the original Westclocx brand, but the face is easier to see because of it. the bell is loud, but does have a control on the back to quiet it a bit. recommended to anyone who loves nostalgia...no worries about how old the mechanism is or if it will short out from age. perfect gift!!!
