Yes, the dial is lit and no way to lower the light except to turn it off. But I can sleep with the amount of light it emits..And the clock is just such great ambiance.
My Moonbean clock is beautiful, gives off a pretty glow and makes a excellent night light. The time is easy to read and the alarm is easy to use and unique. I couldn't be happier.
My husband recently retired; and to salvage the remnants of my sanity, I have to get up earlier than he does- to have a cup of coffee, let the dog out, etc. Now I can! The flashing light is insistent, but silent- he is not disturbed, and can go on peacefully sleeping. Wonderful! Words cannot express my gratitude! And it is so SIMPLE to figure out. And it has a real clock face; the night light feature is inobtrusive. Love it.
overall I love this clock-it is simple but very nice looking. My only comment is that the alarm bell sis VERY loud-it would be nice if it had a few levels just in case you don't want to be jolted out of bed (or wake up a sleeping child in the other room...)
