My parents had this clock in their bedroom 40+ years ago; when I saw the clock there were so many good memories of my childhood attached that I just had to have one.
This is silly but that "moon" looking back at me everynight gives me such a feeling of warmth and and security.
I am planning to send the clock back because it makes a very loud noise. It is so loud that I won't be able to sleep with it next to my bed. However, it is beautiful and otherwise works fine. I really wish it weren't so noisy.
I loved the clock...was very excited to receive it...tried to set the time and it was broken. I had to return it. Very disappointed. I didn't want to chance it and order another one so I guess I'll have to find another nightstand clock.
This clock is... in a word... perfect! It keeps accurate time and the dimly lit clock face is not too bright at night. Before the alarm rings, the "moon beam" light flashes with increasing intensity to gently wake the sleeper. I'm such a hard sleeper, however, that the light alone never wakes me the first time. Only after having pressed the snooze once will the light be enough to rouse me from my dreams (which has turned out to be a fantastic way to get out of bed)!
I've read other reviews about the clock not working upon delivery... I'm almost inclined to think that perhaps they set the time wrong? (The directions state that the clock risks being damaged if time or alarm is not set properly). I've been ordering LL Bean products for years, and have NEVER been disappointed with a product... (Not to mention how impressed I am that my order always makes it to my door on the earliest available delivery date) like everything else from LL Bean, this clock is Quality!! Looks great too!
