Love the look!! Believe it or not, the blinking light will wake you up. If you are a very heavy sleeper the buzzer will do the trick. I bought the yellow and am very happy with the color.
Love this clock. It is not only a very attractive, classic piece and extremely well made, the light alarm mode used by itself actually does wake you up! But for those who prefer an audible alarm, the sound on this clock (if set in that mode) will rouse anyone from sleep! Nothing but good things to say about this clock.
I work nights, so the flashing light is not very useful, but the alarm is perfectly annoying. I can sleep through almost any other alarm, but this one works great for me. :)
