I ordered the vanilla model, and returned it because the bell alarm didn't work (the flashing light mode did work). Customer Service replaced it two more times, and each time the same problm. It is obvious there is a manufaturing defect with this clock. I won't try again.
This is my second Moonbeam Clock and I love it even more than the first. (The first one suffered an unfortunate accident when I was vacuuming and got the cords tangled; the hour hand was jarred a bit out of place, just enough to make it tricky to tell what time it was.) With the old clock, if you did not wake to the flashing light it would automatically change to a very loud bell sound. I only heard it once and it reminded me why I hate alarm clocks; I don't like being alarmed! This new one allows you to choose between bell only, light only, or light and then bell. Yeah! The other new feature is that you can opt not to have the dial lighted. But I personally love the "moonbeam" face. It is like a very soft nightlight. I am nearsighted and so the large numbers and softly lit face enable me to read the time in the night.
Can't wait to go to sleep to wake up to this clock

Love this clock! Great retro style. Simple to operate - no instructions needed (but they are in the box.) I keep the dial illuminated, and it is easily visible but not so bright that it is distracting. The bell alarm is definately loud, but the snooze and the off buttons are easy to find to turn it off quickly. The blinking light doesn't wake me up but is a reminder of what's to come (loud bell!) if I wake up earlier. Everyone in my house wants one of these clocks.
