We needed a clock with retro details which would fit in with other antique pieces on an old Hoozier china cabinet. This style and color is perfect for the space. Like the back-lighting feature.
Having no idea that this clock had been changed drastically, I made a purchase and was totally shocked when it arrived.
The clock looks and performs completely different than the old model. It no longer has the translucent plastic look of the old model. Also, the old model looked exactly like the antique 1940's original. This new one does not at all.
In addition, they changed the snooze button. It is no longer raised so that it can be located easily by touch, when you're half asleep. It's completely flush with the top of the clock so you can't feel it and the huge letters SNOOZE, across the top of the clock, take away from it's authentic retro look.
But worst of all, they changed the lights from nice bright incandescent lights to LED lights that emit a blue color and don't light bright enough. The backlight on the dial is way too low and the flashing alarm light is not bright enough to awaken me from sleep. They also changed the sound of the bell. Which, before, had an authentic old fashioned sound.
I'm very disappointed that I didn't know about the change to this clock. I think the listing should make it more clear that it has changed this drastically.
