The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the USB function only works when plugged into an electrical outlet. My reason for selecting that option was for a reliable back-up for power outages. Beyond that it does everything it claims it will do.
The Moom Beam Clock with USB port is an excellent product. It is quiet, has several useful options. I sleep through the less loud alarm, but the loud one wakes me every time. In the winter I use the light alarm. I like that I can charge my phone or other devices with the USB port. Best of all, I can read the numbers.
I needed an alarm clock and as long as I was at the L. L. Bean site I bought this one, though it did look odd and vaguely retro. I've had it for two years and I must say it's been excellent. Instead of jarring you awake immediately with an alarm bell, the attached lamp on the side flashes on and off with gentle illumination, and gets brighter as it continues. When the light has reached its maximum intensity the alarm bell goes off. The controls on the back of the clock work fine, so you can adjust light of the clock face, the flashing light and the bell sound. The newer models include a USB port, an excellent addition.
This is a great bedside table clock! I have had it for a year, and really love it! The light-up dial is very easy to read in the dark, and the orange dial light isn't too harsh. The sound of the alarm is my favorite part... a nice ringing bell sound, compared to the blaring beep from cheaper clocks that you can buy in stores. The ability to turn on and off the backlight is a nice feature, and the switch for turning off the alarm is easy to access when you are groggy in the morning!
