Great product. Ageless design, and quality construction...all seams and sections line up perfectly. It keeps time as accurately as my "atomic clocks", and its alarm greets the morning with a real pleasant sound of muffled bells. The flashing light that starts the alarm process begins with some intensity, and then softens in its 5 minutes life cycle to gentle stir me from sleep. The muffled bells are just there to insure that I actually get up. My wife and I love it. The colors are very nice too; we selected "Vanilla" which is very compatible with most neutral shades in our bedroom. Excellent value, as well.
From the time I sat this on my nightstand my husband didn't understand why we needed this clock. We had a digital one across the room. When the light started flashing and we both woke up 5 minutes ahead of when the alarm was to go off, I think he understood. I had read reviews on this and did read the instructions on which way to turn both the setting hands and the alarm hand. It is perfect. Love the dimly lit face too. My friend had me order her one as she had received one as a wedding gift in 1953 and in a move it disappeared. She is so happy also. Love this clock!!!
What a beautiful clock. Although my husband and I could use this as an alarm clock, we have it across the room and when we occasionally each wake during the night, we are able to read the time from the very gently lit clock face. It is peaceful and not glaring and we have given these to our twenty-something sons who use their phones for alarms, but love the soft and beautiful, subdued, glow from the clock face. One item we truly love and enjoy.
I recently purchased this clock. I have yet to wake up to the alarm (although I did test it when it arrived). The flashing light wakes me up, which my husband appreciates as his hours are different from mine. The various settings are great and the 1950's style fits perfectly in my 1948 house. There is a soft ticking noise which is more soothing than annoying. The only complaint I have, as I am nearsighted, as the dial is very hard to see in the night as compared to the red numbers on a digital. Overall, very satisfied.
