Love my clock. The feature of the side light blinking 5 minutes before the alarm goes off is pretty awesome. This feature can be turned off if you don't want the blinking light. The alarm is not overbearing. Keeps great time. I ordered the vanilla and it is true to color. The clock is a perfect fit in the bedroom.
Interesting the guidelines on this page state that I should "use the item before reviewing it." I wonder if the ad writer used the product before writing the copy that accompanied this item in the catalog! It describes the light as "gently illuminating" -- that, along with the name "Moon Beam" led me to expect a soft, steady light that would help me pry my eyes open on the dark mornings of winter. Instead, this clock BLINKS brightly and rapidly. It definitely wakes me up - but I can't stand to let the blinking continue for more than a few seconds, so I turn it off immediately. This puts me back into darkness, where I can easily fall asleep again. Not the outcome I was hoping for!
The audible alarm is more a buzzer than a bell - think of the sound that is made on game shows when someone answers incorrectly. Thankfully, you can choose loud or less loud settings for that.
If you are a rock-hard sleeper who needs to be jolted and jarred awake, this is the clock for you!
In spite of my disappointment with this clock's light and tone, I am going to keep it for sentimental reasons. My dairy-farmer father had one just like it in the 1960s, to wake him silently at 4 am while the rest of the family slept. I do love the way it looks! I just won't use it as an alarm clock . . . and I'm still looking for a light to wake up to. Maybe I need a lamp on a timer....
Absolutely the best alarm clock I have ever had! Love the light alarm and the back light....the only thing I did not like was the price but hopefully I will have this one for as long as needed.
