In the past I used a battery clock which produced very poor nighttime viewing. In fact it was useless, so I elected to purchase the Moon Beam. It is just what I wanted and I love the style which lends itself perfectly to my decor. I have not tried the alarm as I no longer need to rise at a precise time. The illumination makes it very easy to read, no more guessing. I am very pleased and would recommend it easily.
I have had a moonbeam for years. Mine finally conked out. I bought two replacements because I couldn't decide between two colors. I now have one at bedside and one in my library. The ascending light is an effective awakener and much more pleasant than a beep. Now that I am retired, I no longer need the alarm, tho now I appreciate the illuminated dial and real numerals large enough to read in any degree of light. It has a second hand and now comes with backup battery capability in the event of power loss. It keeps perfect enough time for a non-physicist like me. Quiet operation--no annoying click-clicks to count passing seconds. That's a plus for people who have sleep issues.
When we had a lightning strike close to the house and several appliances were fried, my 9 year old Moon Beam clock was one of them. It was also the FIRST thing I replaced! I love that the display is back-lit and I prefer an analog reading vs. squinting at digital numerals and wondering if that's a 5 or a 6. And waking up to a flashing light is so less obnoxious than a screaming jangle - for me.
I love this clock. Well built, quality and nostalgic looking clock. Believe me, it's worth the money and I don't go praising every item I buy. Truly worth it. I'm buying another for a gift.Just a great alarm clock! Well done, LL.
