Very happy with this clock, the flashing light is usually enough to wake me up and is so much nicer then a harsh alarm. I haven't found there to be any noise that others mentioned. Love the retro look and the size is perfect.
The reason I ordered an electric clock was to get a smooth running silent clock. This item, which is much larger than I anticipated, has a quartz movement that thick, tick, tick, tick, tick, ticks away just like any $4. item from the local store. It is not silent; not what I expected from an electric clock. I'm real disappointed. Life does not tick away one second at a time; it is a continuum and clocks need to reflect that constant smooth uninterrupted movement.
I love this clock, the backlit face; the retro look. The size is wonderful not to big, yet not small enough to be knocked over. The alarm is loud enough also! I also like the flashing light feature.... I just cannot find the am pm button so it rings on time; I am sure once I contact customer service they will clear up that small problem for me.
I agree with the other unhappy reviewers. The sound on the alarm worked once then stopped. I was going to exchange the clock, but then read about the same thing happening to other customers. I am usually very happy with LL Bean products. I'm so disappointed too since I have wanted this clock for a long time only to have it not work. So sad.
