Very sad to say I had to send the clock back, it just didn't work right. The look is fantastic, so retro, reminded me of clocks in my grandmother's house. The alarm is loud and unpleasant, but it did not go off consistently when set. Seems to be a manufacturing problem as others have complained about it too.
When I got this beautiful clock, the first thing I did was to try the alarm. I set the alarm hand to 8:00, and turned the dial ( in the correct direction ) until it hit 8:00. No bell alarm, but the light flashed. I understand the bell rings about 4 minutes after the light, so I waited. No bell. I then set it to bell only, and tried it again, no bell. I did this repeatedly, and no bell alarm. So I sadly packed it up to send it back as defective. I noticed that many wrote about the broken alarm, and I guess mine was sadly just another one. I then called LL Bean customer service ( fantastic ) to get the info. to send it back. The wonderful woman on the other end told me to try it again by letting the clock be set at least 15 minutes before the alarm rings. So I unpacked it and set the clock hands to 7:45 for a 8:00 alarm. I sat and worked, and at 8:00 the bell rang! I tried it again, and it worked every time! Now, why the heck doesn't the manual tell us this??? It would save many returns and frustration on the customer's part. I've had it for about a month, and it works flawlessly. Love it. Get your manual fixed, not the clock!
This was a purchase for a guest bedroom. The face is easy to read, and has the perfect amount of back lighting to be read at night. Easy to set alarm and other features. Sturdy construction. Love the blue color - not too pastel.
I love my green retro clock. All the glamour of the early fifties with the conveniences of 2013. It has the option of a battery back-up in the event of a power failure and a snooze button. The nicest feature is the gentle waking with the soft light followed by an alarm. It is a bit bigger than I had thought it would be but fits well on the night chest. I am looking forward to many years of enjoyment.
