ProsComfortable, super warm, winter wardrobe staple
bought this for my husband for Christmas. We both liked it so much I had to order another one for myself. How did I ever survive a NY winter without it?
My only complaint is that it should come in smaller sizes for the ladies. The small fits pretty well, but the chin strap is a little long. Still, it's SOOOOOOO warm. I have been stopped many times with people wanting to know where I got it.
I have been looking for a bomber type hat for a while, and was very excited by the price. Originally ordered it in khaki, but was unhappy with the color. Neither the fur nor the fabric were as depicted in the photograph. I decided to exchange it for black, which ended up being much too small for my head, even though it was the same size as the previous one (which had fit alright)
Ended up returning that, as I was tired of wasting my time and shipping $ to try to find one just right
I'm in love with this hat! Not only is it super cuddly-soft, easy to put on & fasten (even with arthritic hands), totally windproof, and impervious to the non-stop storms and frigid below 0 temps & windchills of this winter of 2011 -- it's ALSO adorably cool looking in an offbeat fashionable way! It's my go-to hat for so many occasions -- most of all every time my beagle and I go out for our 2-3 mile hike several times a day each & every day -- no matter what the weather. Just wish there were mittens to match! And speaking of matching -- the Mad Bomber is a perfect match with my Bean's Warm and Light 3/4 length down coat. Thank you, Beanie -- you make even the harshest of winters more than do-able!
My mad bomber hat arrived just in the nick of time for the onset of rain, ice and wet snow (all in one day) that hit Washington DC. This hat passed a trial by fire with ease and style. Over the next few days afterwards it stood up to wind chills, more rain and kept my head warm and snug. The color (red) is quite stylish and the rabbit fur very comfortable. I got a medium size, and it is just right for my head. If I was in a store, I might try the large to test the fit as it seems the sizes in this hat lean toward small. But regardless I am ok. The one small design flaw is the chin trap. A simple snap would be far easier to deal with. In fact, I might just take two pieces of velcro and attach them to parts of the chin strap. All in all, I am crazy mad about this hat. It can hold its own against mother nature. And LL Bean, if you are listening, for version 2.0 loose the chin strap for a more simple snap.
