I ordered this hat for my husband for hunting on cold mornings. He loves it! The fur is amazingly soft and warm, and the exterior fabric is strong, yet pliable. The strapping and closures are durable and easy to manipulate. I would recommend it as a great addition to your cold weather gear.
This is a great-LOOKING hat, but I had to send mine back today (just received it) because the strap closure needs improvement. The buckle currently being used is a real pain to operate and would be even more irritating to deal with in the cold and/or snow. A speed clip (like the one used on the leather version) would be worlds more convenient. Also, if you want to put the flaps UP (the hat looks great that way), you'd have to do it with the raw underside of the buckle strap exposed, which looks rather bad. Otherwise, the hat is well made (if a tiny bit tight) with a great interior construction. Guess I should have bought the leather version instead and probably will. I love LL Bean in general.
