I bought these slippers 2 years ago for my husband and he loved them but they were well cushioned and had a rubber sole on them. Purchased these ones for him and they were so stiff, too large and no rubber sole or cushioned insole...it was the cushioned insole that he loves and they are still as cushioned today. Sure would be nice if they would make the cushioned insole again!!
I got these slippers because they do not offer them for women - only the bison leather. I'm loving the stiffer leather; they will not wear out to be too floppy! They are very warm, snuggly and true to size. My only wish is that these were also offered as a driving mod - with a semi-sole on the bottom or with some rubber pads - they can be a bit slippery.
I tried both the leather and bison versions (leather-lined) to see what would be best, since they are the same price. Ended up keeping the leather ones, as I sensed they'd be sturdier and wear/last better for me over time. The leather version is a stiffer slipper, at least at first. I suspect it will break in great. The bison ones are much more supple and softer, yet not as firm a fit. They both run a little large - I'm an 11.5 and got 11. It was a little tight on day one, but after half a day of wear they loosened up. So, definitely go down a 1/2 size if you are in between. They have a classic, really nice look.
After going through many lower quality slippers every year, I decided to purchase these Bean slippers. That was two years ago and I have been very happy with them. They have conformed very nicely to the shape of my foot, are very comfortable and keep my feet warm during the winter. Initially I thought the sole would wear out quickly, but after two years of daily wear the slippers have held up very well and look great. That really speaks volumes about the quality of materials and construction. In terms of sizing, on the Brannock foot-measuring device I am a true 8.5D and all of my dress shoes are 8.5D. Therefore, I ordered the slipper in size 8 (sized down 1/2) and the fit was perfect. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend the Bean slippers.
