As suggested, ordered up one size. I wear 11 or 11.5; ordered 12 and it was much too large. Slipped up & down on my heels. Toe box much too shallow also; toes felt crunched, even though shoes were too long. Therefore, an 11 won't work either.
I was not sure what to expect when I ordered these. I have had slippers from other brands that always had too much cushioning or were too heavy or the uppers were made out of material that would attract dust and lint or were open in the back and the heal would flop when I walked. I was hesitant to order fearing that the leather soles would not provide protection and worried about fit from reading the reviews. Turns out the leather is thick and definitely provides ample indoor protection, quite comfortable to walk in, and the fit is just fine - i wear a 13m shoe - i ordered the 13 and it was just a bit snug (not tight) around the ball of the foot - after a couple days of wearing they loosened up and are just right. So, I am pleasantly surprised and very happy with these slippers!!! If you have a wide foot you will probably have to order up a size and hope they fit.
When I bought the L.L.Bean moose hide slippers and robe the first time in 1972 it was much more than I could afford. Over the years these L.L.Bean slippers were one of the few consistent things in my life. They survived at least one burglary when I was almost completely cleaned out. They were more dependable than ex-wives and friends and outlasted many of them. Two o’clock or three o’clock in the morning when I would be up with a few month old baby or a glass of wine and later a cup of tea the moose hide slippers and robe were comforting and dependable. “Boomers How We Changed the World” was lived out in them. The robe became worn after 31 years and we had to say goodbye. I replaced it with a cheaper “brand name” but the relationship was never the same. The moose hide slippers were repaired twice with a touch of glue at the sole. The leather lace broke and I contemplated replacing it. A simple repair and the slippers would have easily out lasted me, but there were so many memories that I did not really want to carry right up to the end. So we parted company after 33 years. Then I missed them but would not replace them with something cheap or inferior. I ordered another pair today. They are not quite the same. The last pair was fleece lined and these are leather lined. Life continues to move on with our cooperation or in spite of it. I will be moving to Japan and then Southeast Asia and they will come with me and my family. I think I will be buried in these slippers in thirty years. After all we will have been through so much together.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, one size small
As many state, these slippers run small. I had the benefit of a local store, so I tried both sizes. I take a 13, but bought size 14. They still fit a touch snug, but will certainly stretch into perfection in no time. Workmanship is excellent, these are beautiful as slippers go. They are made of shoe quality leather that you can polish and treat to maintain as a show. The bottoms are smooth leather, which could be a bit dangerous for those who are not sure-footed.
