I have been using a pair of unlined boat shoes for both indoor, outdoor, and off shore use for at least 20 years. Have been putting off purchase of 'house slippers' too long. These are great, and do buy the leather-lined ones if you go without socks like me. Does Bean still re-stitch boat shoes that have seen a lot of duty, but would go a few more decades after 5 minutes on a sole sticher? I can re-sew the mock myself. Happy 25 year customer.
I Bought these slippers about 2+ years ago and they are tough. All stitching holding up perfect without problems. They are warm -- great for people with cold feet problems. My only criticism is that after 2 years, I think they are finally starting to break in. For inside the house I prefer the softer feeling of the L.L.Bean Moosehide Fleece Lined, but I still love these slipper mocs!
Bought a pair of these for my boyfriend a good two+ years ago (leather-lined). He wears them CONSTANTLY around the house. Despite having managed to wear holes in the soles of both slippers, his feet are still protected by the second layer of the double-layer leather! You'll get your money's worth as long as you avoid wearing them on rough surfaces like cement--even if it's just to get your morning paper from the driveway.
Comfortable, warm, true to size. The leather wears like iron. The only down side is the laces, which keep coming undone no matter how I tie them. Since they're pretty much just ornamental anyway, I ended up snipping them off with scissors. Problem solved.
