Several years ago I purchased one of these nightgowns in white with the navy pattern. It has held up well and I still love sleeping in it. This most recent purchase -- in the beautiful light crystal blue -- seems not to be a brushed flannel, but it is still soft and warm. The pin-tucking on the front and back adds warmth, which I like. As for size, I'm 5'5", <125 pounds, and I like clothing to be loose: the medium size is right for me (though I prefer a large in LLBean turtlenecks). Washing caused no shrinkage, and the nightgown is still roomy enough to curl up inside it. :-) I'm happy with this.
Love my new nightgown! Seems a bit over priced but it is a good fit (roomy but not too roomy) and did not shrink after washing. Based on other reviews, I was careful to wash is in cold water, dry at low temp just to be cautious. I am 5'6" and Medium is a good choice. Love the front and back small pleating for a feminine look.
I bought two about 6 years ago, one last year, and two more this fall. Since I wear nightgowns only one night, the older ones probably have been washed close to 100 times and have just began to show signs of wear. The fabric is slightly thinner than usual flannel nightgowns, which I like.
