I am a 115lb 5'4'' lady and ordered a small petite nightgown. When I tried it on it seemed like a XXL! I loved the pin tucks, but the thing is a tent! Really the front and back are a great design, but the side seams are so generous I could fit in two body pillows, one on each side!
I bought this gown, because I wanted warm, roomy, soft, long sleeves that don't bind. I got 2 and 1/2 any way- it is roomy and warm and the sleeves don't bind if you don't button them. Soft it is not. The dobby fabric is charming to look at, but is scratchy. I like to think I am wearing something from the distant past, but somehow comfort now seems more important. I may send it back for a long sleeved night shirt.
Although the design, style, and workmanship is excellent on this nightgown the fabric was really a disappointment to me as it was not soft and fuzzy as flannel should be. I have worn and washed it twice and this didn't help. The fabric was not really flannel.
