I don't like nighties. I never wear them, I prefer sweat pants and long sleeved tops. However, I saw this nightie and hinted heavily that I might like it for Christmas and as it turns out, I LOVE this nightie. I have the 3X size. I have large upper arms and shoulders which is frequently a problem with shirts and things in women's sizing, but this nightgown fits me perfectly. I love the vintage styling, which is what attracted me to it; I don't like the usual women's nighties with ruffles sewn on for no particular reason. The pintucked front is really well done with the pattern repeats in neat formation. Clearly, these are quality items. I've seen people say the fabric isn't as thick as it could/should be and that it isn't actually flannel. This might be true, but I love it anyway. I think it would drape weirdly if it was thicker.
My house is drafty, and I'm used to wearing lots of layers around inside in the winter. This nightgown, however, is so warm that I don't need to add my usual sweater or robe, just slippers. The fabric is nice and thick, and the nightgown itself is a little heavy feeling when it's on, but the warmth and coziness of it make up for that.
I had read the reviews and decided to order. I was disappointed with the weight of the flannel. If I did not already have some of these gowns, I probably would have kept it. I decided to mend the ones I have an returned these, I would gladly pay more for this gown in the heavier weight flannel LLBean has used in years past.
