When these arrived as an early holiday gift to myself, I was happy to have finally budgeted for these vintage nightgowns. One for the hamper and one to wear, I'll be contantly warm and cozy while the wallet gets tighter and winters get colder. Important for me that I can pull off & on easily (disabled since '97) becuz it's so roomy, and then be instantly transformed to circa 1800. BTW, the weave is very, very tight, so it does tend to get too warm at times (breathability). However - I love the detailed style (front AND back), the Quality and the Coziness...so 5 stars it is. NTM, it will get colder soon enuf to where the tight weave will be a saving grace!
I chose this nightgown based on reviews so wanted to add my feedback now that it's arrived and have loved my purchase.
The price is comparable to what I paid for my last favorite nightgown. When I buy the thing I love I enjoy it immensely and don't buy several cheaper versions that ultimately aren't used to their potential.
The fabric is a perfect weight for lounging and sleeping. For those of us who, at times, have an unadjustable thermostat, it's still just right.
I like a long nightgown. I want it to brush the tops of my feet. This is hard to find. I'm 5'6" tall, typically wear small-medium in day clothes. I ordered a large for this reason. It did lose some length in laundering (cold water, hang to dry). With that said, it would likely be barely noticeable to another. It's because I love length. That is the only reason it lost a star.
The overall fit is wonderful. The top portion has shape on your person because of the pleating and then it opens to great room at the bottom. It can be your flannel sheet if you like to draw your knees up.
I thought I couldn't leave my old one which has bleach stains and, yes, has lost length. But I'm ordering a second one today (based on another's wisdom in these reviews!).
I've had this gown for almost a year now and I love it! I love it sooo much that I bought another one in red for me and also one for my mother. I wish they would get one in hunter green *hint*
