I am thrilled with this purchase as I am most everything at LL Bean. The clothes are top-knot and I love the fit. I bought this gown for my grandmother who is 103. I know she will love the fit, the style and the softness of the material. Getting a gown in her size that was petite was fantastic! Worth every penny.
Made exceptionally from every point..beautiful piece..sizing is generous..my i cosider M, but lately all sweaters and shirts cut so economically, that never know what size to buy. I was afraid that M will be small but ordered it anyway. Thanks to design, it was full size, feel free in any position. Only one thing: it is no flannel, certainly not flannel fabric that we used to.Though very nice, feels like home made soft fabric from the past.I washed it before wearing and it did not shrink. .just became softer...
Let me begin this review by saying that I have this nightgown in every color, which should be an indication as to how much I love it!
This is not what you might call sexy sleepwear, unless your partner is into snuggly ankle-length warmth. My friends saw that I ordered this and joked that I was assuring my singlehood forever. WHATEVER. This nightgown is worth it.
It's long - ankle length, almost top-of-foot length. The collar comes up high enough on the neck that I can wear my hair up and not be cold. The sleevs come down to my wrists, but not down onto my hands. The pattern is lovely, and the flannel is so soft and of such high quality that you just never want to take it off. The pintucking down the front differentiates this from your gran's housedress and is flattering, too.
I'm 5'4 and 180lbs, and I got the large. It is AMPLE. I probably could have gotten the medium and been fine. The medium would have probably only been a slightly closer fit, not like a skin-tight difference.
I've washed them all and they wash and dry beautifully, no shrinking, no fading. I think they're slightly less soft after being washed and dried, but I'm going to try liquid fabric softener next time and see if that makes a difference.
So buy this nightgown! Don't be afraid to size down. Get some tall socks to go underneath it and enjoy wintertime sleeping in the coziest of fashions.
