I am not understanding the 'flannel' aspect complaints of this nightie. I received the redish one yesterday, immediately washed in very hot water and dried - the reason being - I ordered an XL - I for years and still do wear a medium in pretty much of LLBean's clothing - I do not like tight tops in anything so style pending, I would order a Large. After taking this nightie out of the dryer - having shrunk a tremendous amount - it is perfect - and that was an XL - it also has lost the 'cotton' feel that I've been reading about - it is soft and like a light flannel - mind you I never was a fan of those thick flannel pj's/nighties I wore as a kid - ugh! - but had no choice - also I think that old fashioned 'thick' flannel - would make this nightie resemble a Nanny McPhee gown. The above being said, this is a great nightie to hang around in and of course, sleep in. I am going to order the blue one right now in XL, shrink it and love it. I thought about the creamish one, but read the best & hysterical review about the 'mustard color' too funny - hence the blue. Bottom line, shrink it and enjoy the softness of this particular blend of flannel. Amen.
I asked for the first gown I had as a gift several years ago. I liked it so much I bought another one for myself the following year. They have held up beautifully. I love the softness and durability of the fabric.
Yes, as others have noted, this nightgown is much thinner than the older version. I would not consider it flannel. Nevertheless it seems well made and fits well. My wife likes it and will keep it, although, she was hoping it was heavier. To me, it hurts the reputation of LLBean. Next time we will look elsewhere.
Had one of these gowns years ago when I was a smaller size, and was looking forward to having another one, so I ordered one in blue when they were on sale. Exchanged once for smaller size. While the gown is "voluminous", most of the volume is in the front, On the one I received, the front was also 2" longer than the back. Just looked strange, As for fabric, it is not flannel, but more like a challis. Sending it back.
