At first glance I thought the price a bit high but someone gave me the red one as a gift - about 10 years ago! I just took it out of the laundry again this morning and noticed how little wear it shows. This has been my overall favorite nightgown and it looks like it will take another 10 years of wear. Mine did not shrink at all; workmanship is excellent; very generous cut; wear is fantastic. I tend to be cold natured and mine is very warm. I will grant that the fabric hand is not the usual "flannel" feel but it is as warm. I hope Bean never stops carrying it.
I ordered two of these gowns, They are not as warm as I had expected of flannel, and the arms on one of them shrunk up. For the price, I don't think they are worth it. I love the style and they are comfortable.
I bought this for my mother for Christmas in the indigo pattern. She loves it and I was impressed how beautifully the pleats offset the fine pattern in the fabric. We live and FL and she prefers to where hers as a house dress rather than to bed. I got a medium for her. It is fitted in the shoulders but very generous every where else. When my husband saw how well made and attractive it is, he suggested I get one for myself, which I did immediately... in pink. I absolutely love it! I have washed mine and noticed no shrinkage at all. Overall, I think it is a great value.
