I live in Wisconsin, so these socks are getting a true test (-25 wind chill today). I love them--very thick, warm, and not at all itchy. However, the toe seam is quite noticeable unless placed just so in order to avoid feeling the "lumpiness" of it. I wear a women's size 10 shoe; for any of you out there with the same size, be sure to order the socks in a Large. I tried the Medium first, and they were way too short. Thankfully, exchanges are so easy with L. L. Bean--what a great company!
These are great, wonderfully warm socks. They are not scratchy at all and are my favorite things to put on in cold weather. Your feet are never cold with these on. Eventually I do wear holes in the heel but it takes a long time; they are very durable.
