I was hoping for a sock that would keep my toes warm and be comfortable. these socks deliver on the first count but fall short on the second. The interior seam at both ends protrudes just enough to be bothersome to my toes and as a result makes it a bit uncomfortable to wear. I got the shorter version and don't know if there will be any shrinkage once they have been washed. These are a bit rougher than other rag will socks I have had in the past but the softer ones don't have a long wear life. Ah life is a series of compromises.......!
For those whose feet are 10.5-11 sizes, as mine are, I chose to purchase XL size (12-13) and wash them in hot water and dry them in the dryer. They shrank to exactly the size I needed. I know that LL Bean doesn't recommend this but it is the only way I found to get a premium ragg wool sock that will fit after repeated washings.
I buy at least 2 sets of thes socks for gifts. My daughter is a Landscaper and my son in law works for a popular delivery co.(FedEx) and they love them in the cold weather with boots.Have ordered them for at least 10 yrs.
