I've been ordering these socks from LLBean for nearly 20 years, and they remain the best socks for hiking, traveling, and all-around general wear, especially when worn in combination with the Cresta hikers. The 12" height works best for me, although I've collected a few 16" pairs over the past years to wear with Katahdin Iron Works shorts during seasonal transitions. The addition of new colors has also made them even more appealing! Thanks for keeping something traditional available for those of us who still enjoy them!
My hubby wears boots all day and works outside 4 seasons. These socks are the only ones he will wear. They keep his feet comfortable and dry all day, and last forever.
The socks are very soft. However, they are not as thick or as dense a weave as other "ragg wool" socks I have owned. They are also more slippery on the floor than the kind I was used to, so they are harder to wear in place of slippers.
