I recently purchased two pairs of these, wondering if they were the same quality I'd gotten used to over a dozen year period of multiple purchases. The new ones look like the old ones but seem notably lighter weight. If some recent purchasers have found them short-lived, perhaps this is why - the ones I've bought in the past just lasted and lasted, through many machine washings and dryer dryings. Will check back in after trying them for a while.
I just replaced a 40 year old pair of the "original" ragg wool socks. These are just as rugged but so soft and not so scratchy! I use them for all seasons -- warmth in winter and water sport (rowing) in the summer. Comfortable all year round.
