Very comfortable and warm for New England winters. Just a caution on sizing. I wear size 9 shoe and purchased the large. They are a little snug. Purchased 2 more sets in XL and they fit perfect. I also suggest not drying in the dryer.
These socks, long a winter staple of mine, have gone badly downhill in value. These wear thru the bottom quickly. Several pair of the charcoal ones I had developed white piling on the soles. The 10" variety (at least in charcoal) keep their color better. Very disappointed. Get a new supplier!!!!
Forget about raindrops on noses and whispers to kittens, these socks are a few of my favorite things. I was expecting perhaps a bit scratchy and maybe they would shrink to unwearable. No, they are soft and comfortable and washable. Best of all, a pair of Wool Ragg socks with my Docs boots keeps my feets warm and dry in winter weather, even when there is snow and yuckiness. I am so delighted with the two pairs I bought late last winter that I just bought five more.
I really like these wool socks. They are warm and they come in a medium size, which is a rare thing today, it seems. However, these socks are not very durable. After one winter, mine develop holes in the heels. I am not an athlete. I like to snowshoe and use my cross-country skis on the weekends. And so, I would encourage L.L. Bean to reinforce the heels on these otherwise good wool socks.
