When I first put these on, I was disappointed to see the bumps of thread at the ends of the toe seams. I have had socks (not from LL Bean) with that problem before, and I couldn't wear them. However, I didn't notice any discomfort with these. Must be due to the softness of the yarn or the width of my shoe. I like being able to wash these in warm water loads and use the dryer.

I usually try to order a couple of pairs of the wool socks every year. I garden on a hilly lot and wear hiking boots. These socks are perfect for the boots all year round, whether it's gardening or hiking.
Ordered extra-large. After one run through the washer/dryer they shrank to fit me perfectly (size 11 1/2 medium). Don't know what I'd order if I had big feet.
