First bought 2 pairs of green 12" socks then 2 pairs of the blue in 10". The green were substantially heavier and fit better than the blue although both the same fabric content. After washing the green socks had not shrunk, but the blue socks were smaller and the fabric less dense. I would recommend buying the green over the blue. No idea why the discrepancy in quality.
