First the fabric feels wonderful, but that's where the goodness ends. The long sleeve v-neck's neck is much wider open than the neck on the short sleeve V-neck, which is made fairly nicely - I don't think that even skinny people look attractive with that much chest acreage showing and it's especially bad for any woman over 40, or so- why make them so different?. And lately all the pima shirts (all styles shrink like there's no tomorrow! I am 5'-7" and these shirts are just at the verge of being almost too short for me anyway. Why won't LLB ever offer these in tall sizes???? After washing they shrink at least 2 inches the first time and continue to shrink further with each wash. After about 4 washes they fit me like a crop top and that is just horrible. I've tried completely avoiding the dryer and still get excess shrinkage. LL Bean, if you could get the pima fabric preshrunk - even if you have to charge a couple more dollars each -it would be SO MUCH BETTER!! Please consider this.
Being a retailer is tough...pleasing all the people all the time, but LLBean is still doing a good job for me providing wardrobe staples. I just got several of these shirts and LOVE them. I am in my sixties, and the "V" is perfect for me..not too low. They are a great quality pima cotton, and mine have never shrunk. They are also a perfect length for me, as I am getting tired of everything getting so long (which I know appeals to a younger set), and no problem with the sleeves. I know returns are a bother, but these are worth a try.
I have bought these in the past and the sleeves were a little too long, but now they are so long that I cannot where the shirt. I love the red color though. The quality seems OK . I also bought a pair of pima cotton pj's that were at least 4-5 inches too long! LL Bean's sizing used to be very good but in the last year or two it's different. I hope you improve your sizing.
I have almost every color in this shirt. I like the shirt, however, they just tacked the scoop neck in the middle and call it a v-neck. It looks like a scoop neck with a small pleat in it. Make it a true v-neck. Even the model shows that it is a scoop neck with a small tack in the middle. Can we get any cheaper?
