I bought two of these bags as gifts - one in Dark Fern and one in Red. The Red is definitely a bright red like in the picture, not a hint of burgundy or maroon. The Dark Fern was my favorite - it's a lovely color, a little bit softer than in the picture. I bought both in size L with a zip-top and extra-long handles, and I am so glad I didn't go with the regular handles. The long ones are perfect for carrying over the shoulder. I got them monogrammed and they looked lovely. I can't attest to how they will hold up for years, but I was really pleased with them as gifts.
I got the X-Large to lug toys to & from. It's huge! It looks super durable - that's good b/c I'm sure it will endure its share of abuse. I wish I would've gotten the regular handles instead of the long b/c of what's it's being used for. But that's okay. I plan on buying more. Thank you L.L. Bean for quality & affordable products:)

I bought the Spiced Cider color because it was on sale, I wasn't sure i was going to like the color but I ended up loving it, it looks different in person, it is more of a golden color, very pretty for the summer.
The medium is a nice everyday bag for work, a little too large for an everyday purse tho. The extra large is VERY VERY large, perfect for a weekend trip, it could even be large enough for two people if you are not over packers. :)
I also have a custom made bag in large, the custom made bags are NOT as stiff as the regular bags, still a quality bag!
Just received my medium dark green bag with monogram today. I got the long handle which will be perfect for carrying on my shoulder. The bag is adorable. I plan to use it for traveling in addition to other things. It will be perfect to use as my "personal item" for taking on an airplane. I am SO HAPPY with it!!!
