I made a custom boat and tote - large size with zip top.
I wanted to use it as a travel bag for my 19 month old. For toys and other things.
Really happy with the bag! I chose Dark Russett for everything except for the handles. It's an orangey-red, which I love. For the handles, I chose white. I think put my son's initials on it. I was nervous about the Dark Russett color before I received it, but it's perfect!
As some other reviewers said, I think the only way it could be improved would be to put some internal pockets.
My husband wanted a tote that was "manly", he needs to bring items to and from work. I had wanted a zipper top and I think I ordered the wrong one....that is why I demoted a star. The canvas is very good quality and I know this bag will last a long time. I have one that I use very often and it is still in great shape after 10+ years of use.
I bought the extra-large size (long-handled) because it was on sale, not knowing what I would do with it. Well, that has changed. It is my favorite suitcase. In these days of paying for anything you check on an airline and being able to carry on only two items, this makes a fabulous second (or first) bag. It holds a lot, is squishable, fits in the overhead, fits under the seat and has never been rejected as a carry-on. Since it zips, everything stays in. It is also a great beach bag, overnight bag, laundry bag, grocery bag, etc. etc. I love it! It washes clean and has a thousand uses.
I bought the extra-large zip top for a 2 week vavation and it worked perfectly. I didn't want a bulky suit case. And yes, ALL of my clothing for 2 weeks fit perfectly inside! It was light-weight and the sturdy zipper kept all my clothing neatly folded inside regardless of the position the bag was in. Love it and will eventually get more sizes.
