My first zip top, and I like it. The top is softer fabric than the sturdy canvas body of the tote and can be folded down into the bag allowing the tote to function just like a regular opened top. I like the versatility this provides. I also am always nervous about the selection of the color thread used for the monograming since there seems to be no provision for the buyer to view the colors available either in the catalogue or on line. I find the colors when illustrated in the printed catalogue to be more reliable than how they appear on a given computer monitor screen. Often times I prefer a contrasting color for the monograming rather than risk being disappointed by a poor match which doesn't meet my satisfaction. However, I was very pleased with the use of the Teal thread on the natural canvas body with the Turquoise Sea colored bottom, handles, and zip-top. I purchased the medium tote, and found it to be a good generous size without being awkwardly large. This medium is too big for me as a purse because I don't like large purses. I could see using it as an airline carryon that could be placed under the seat. Oh, and liked the signature LL Bean zipper pull. Nice touch.
This is my 10th boat and tote i've purchased. I LOVE these bags...and they make for such great gifts, especially for weddings! A great price, sturdy good product, and the monogramming makes it very personal! I plan on ordering more throughout the year for the upcoming Christmas season for friends and family!
