I purchased 3 totes bags last summer. Two of the totes bags were the large size, and one was the medium size. The large sizes are monogrammed for each of my sons. The medium was intended for me as a snack bag for the car on trips. I have used the bags over and over again, without a problem, rip, snag or tear. My boys (ages 2 & 4) love having their own bag for overnight trips to grandmother's house, or even a daytrip to the beach. With their bags being monogrammed, it is easy for my parents or in-laws to know whose bag belongs to whom. The large size is perfect for carrying their overnight clothes, extra pull-ups, a toy, blanket... etc. I love the fact that the material is thick and durable. I know it is going to last me a LONG time!! I don't mind stains or dirt. With a wet washcloth and a little surface cleaning, it looks good as new. Besides, it adds character. I also love the fact it is something that is made in the USA. It is hard to find quality items still made here. I plan to purchase more totes for future gifts. As well as for the little bundle I am expecting!!
We've had ours for over a decade--and that's a decade of taking it to the beaches of Cape Cod. This bag is as rugged and useful as they come. My wife wants to buy a new one, but I'm ready to see if it can last for another decade!
You just can't beat the quality. These totes are so versitile; I have two in the car for groceries and several others in the house used for weekend trips and various other needs. They make great gifts becuase they are so handy. I would always recommend the zip-top with long handles. If you over fill the bag, the zip-top can be pulled out to make the bag a little bigger, and the long handles allow you to carry the bag in one hand. And TOUGH! My 22 month old likes to get in the bag and we have to swing her around the room. Needless to say, we have to hide them.
I love my totes, and the zip top is great for schlupping around kid supplies, groceries, and crafting supplies. I own the all-weather tote (treated canvas?) and that thing is so rugged; it takes all sorts of abuse and yet, it looks as good as the day I got it.
