This bag is very thick and sturdy. It stands up on its own even when empty. I bought the large to hold my books and things, and it was way too big. The medium is a more pracitcal size for my needs. Customer service was very helpful and accomidating, though.
Super big hit, think I might have ordered 12 or more. Everyone was delighted and I'm ordering two more, one for myself and the other for daughter, thought she had one. Her face was rather disappointed, when there wasn't one for her. These bags are the greatest for anything, to carry books, computers, clothes, you name it. Great item, well made. I ordered the large, which seem to be a good general size.
I already have several of these in other colors but wanted a red one. This one I did not get with a zipper and I am very pleased with it. As always it is a L L Bean quality product you can count on. I am sure I will use it for years to come as I have my other boat and tote bags.
