The extra large tote is terrific. Bought one for myself several years ago to take to the beach with my family. Holds 6 towels, sand toys, and lunch. Loved it so much, bought one for my cousin, and am buying one as a Christmas present this year.
These totes are incredibly sturdy, and can withstand absolutely anything you can put them through. I use mine as a book bag, and it has yet to tear a single thread, even after a year of carrying heavy textbooks up every huge campus hill. However, the Extra Large is LARGE!!!! Really large-not suited to carrying in some crowded places large! Still, it is wonderful, and by far the best tote out there.
LL Bean totes are absolutely the best tote you can buy. They are unbelievably sturdy. I own the extra large size and carry it every time I travel to tote anything and everything. I have even used it as a makeshift cooler and it worked fine. I have owned this thing for years and it's still going strong. I would never buy a boat and tote from anyone else because I know that LL Bean's totes will last a lifetime. I have given several as gifts and everyone loves them.
This bag will withstand the tests of time. Have had one of these totes for 20 plus yrs. and just ordered 2 more. Practical, roomy, very sturdy. Great for self or great gift also.
