I ordered the large one for my son's day care and found out it was really big (I should have checked the measurements) but it did the job! I just ordered the medium one because the large was getting in the way and I'm looking forward to using that. I am one of many parents at daycare that have ordered these bags with our childs name on it.
I have three of these x-large canvas bags that I leave in my car solely for grocery trips. They hold A LOT of food and will last longer than those smaller, cheaper bags stores are selling now. Last time I went to the supermarket, I received a complement on the bags from the woman in line behind me... She asked where she could find one for herself!
So classic! And very durable! I have two, both the 'medium' size - one with short handles, and the other with long. I carry them with me everywhere! The only suggestion I would make to L.L. Bean to make these even better, would be some sort of removeable/washable liner. I find that my bags get pretty dirty on the inside/bottom, and I don't think you can actually throw the bag in the washer.
I purchased the extra large version of this bag last summer while trying to get the kids and all of their stuff to swimming lessons. It held everything from their suits and towels to my beach blanket and cooler leaving my hands free to have a hand for each of my small children to hold. The quality is great!! My husband and I joke that we can even fit our 40lb dog in the bag if there was ever a need!!
