After we bought our first boat and tote, this became our "signature" baby gift. We've probably given this to 15+ families because we use it every week and have for 8 years. Its perfect for the beach, soccer practice, taking toys and books and extra clothes on a plane, camping, sleepovers, going anywhere, anytime. After 8 years of use by a very active boy and his family, it is still as sturdy as when we first bought it. I expect it will accompany him to college!
The zippered bag proved to be most excellent. The large size is probably most useful since the extra large is actually quite big. But it is strong and well made and the monogramming adds a nice touch of class. Well done.
I purchased four bags as gifts for a beach trip. This bag was the perfect size to take to the beach. Everyone loved them. The straps were long enough to fit over the shoulder, the monogramming was done perfectly. I placed the order order over the phone, where one of the very pleasant LLBean reps checked to see if 2 lines of monogramming was available on this med size bag. It was. This bag is very heavy duty canvas and will last a lifetime. Once again LLBean came through for me.
Overall, I like the small open-top tote bag. It's ideal for taking a book and bottle of water to appointments, etc. However, I wish the top of the handles were perhaps wrapped with leather or some other soft material. As it is, the handles are very stiff and uncomfortable to carry with one hand. Even when the tote is carried on the arm, the stiff handles are rough against the skin.
