It's a cliche but this bag is just amazing. I work out of my truck and usually by the end of a day have papers, tools, and business detritus scattered everywhere.This bag just swallows everything up in magical Mary Poppins fashion and at the same time, stays sturdy and upright on the seat next to me so I can reach into it and know my checkbook or flashlight or whatever I put in it is still going to be where I expect it to be. Then, when I hop out for a business meeting or to see a contractor, I just grab the bag and not only is everything I need with me, it looks great. I'm officially raving now but what a terrific product. Wish I'd had it 10 years ago!
I initially bought my Boat and Totes in 2005 or so to haul supplies for my classes. The large is definitely large; if you pack it full of things other than clothes, you probably won't be able to tote it. The medium is the size I use for my every day bag. It's big enough to hold everything and still have room if I want to stuff my sweater in it, or if I make an unexpected purchase.
These bags have held up incredibly well. I've washed them, and while it makes them look a little less classy/tailored, it doesn't affect their quality at all. I've used them for everything from a daily bag to groceries to hauling firewood. I'm considering getting more even though I don't have a purpose in mind just because they are so wonderful.
