I own so many of these totes for so many years they are durable and stylish ,the reason I have to keep reordering is my family and friends keep taking my bags.this is the it gift bag for any occasion or holiday.
I just received my custom tote. It's very cute....navy blue body, navy blue pocket, with "dark green" trim.
I've always wanted one of the standard totes with dark green trim, but have never purchased one, always opting for other colors. My experience includes viewing them online, and seeing them in person. The dark green in my experience has always been very, very dark. Imagine forest green paint mixed with black paint. That was the color I fell in love with.
My brand new custom tote, ordered with dark green trim, arrived with a color I can only describe as medium, somewhat bright-ish, green......closer to a dark kelly green...with a certain vibrancy. It's attractive, but not that deep, understated black green that I remember.
Perhaps this is because it was custom, and the materials are different? Not sure. I will be keeping my tote, because it is darn cute, but I really was hoping for that darker green.
I probably own as many LLBean tote bags as I own Birki shoes, and my family will tell you that is a lot. I have always used these bags for numerous reasons, but this particular one I bought for a baby gift and had the baby's name put in it and then bought a few baby books to add in it The parents love their son's bag. I am buying another one tonight for my grandson's first birthday. His parents have their own and now it is time for him to have one, too.
I recently purchased the small zipper tote with the long handle before I went abroad for a vacation. It turned into the perfect every day purse while traveling. The zip top kept things inside, and the bag itself holds a lot (wallet, maps, camera, etc.)! My only recommendations (and I realize that this bag has been around for YEARS and is clearly an LL Bean mainstay) are to add a divider inside the bag to be able to separate things inside the bag, and to add a clip for keys inside the bag (mine kept getting lost in the "black hole" at the bottom of the bag b/c it's sooo roomy!). Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. Thanks LL Bean!
