This bag is excellent and a must have for a large family. I got the extra large to use as a swim bag this summer. It's a great size and will hold everyone's towels and swimming things. The quality is excellent, I love how it is made in Maine. I was so impressed I ordered 4 more, 2 as gifts.
I love the quality of this tote and the size in small, since I plan to use it as a summer handbag. HOWEVER........someone really needs to take this one back to the drawing board on design. Why on earth would you put the colored handle on the top and natural color canvas on the under side that will be in constant contact with body oils, skin lotions, and or any other substance that we may touch during the day???????? I thought about this before ordering, and will treat it with scotch guard, but will probably put fabric paint on the under side handle, to keep it from looking so disgusting. Great bag for the price hands down, but please think this one through if you're a busy mom.
I have owned many Bean Boat & Tote bags through the years, and they last forever. The quality is outstanding, and that's no surprise. However, the thing that continues to amaze me about L.L. Bean is their service. I ordered my latest bag on Tuesday evening, and it arrived (beautifully monogrammed) on Friday morning. I just loaded it up with the kids' beach gear, and we're off to the beach! Amazing service. Thank you, L.L. Bean!
The only real boat & tote bag. I inherited some from my parents that are at least 40 years old and have at least 15 "new" ones. I hope some of the great colors come back - Wild Berry, Glen Green, etc. - but I buy at least one a year for myself and give as gifts for friends. I use the small as a handbag and the older ones for storage - so much better looking than those plastic tubs . . .
