I cannot believe how BIG this bag is! I think about the dimensions and I say to myself that may not be big enough (XL), but I order anyway. Great shipping, and I get the bag on time as scheduled. I open the package, and I look a this bag, and wow! My wife still can't believe how big the bag is! The material is great. It should last a lifetime. Thanks LL Bean!

I'm currently a student and needed a bag that would last a long time, looked good, and was big enough for my textbooks but not too big. I watched "something borrowed" over the summer and the main character had a green and white boat tote. I decided I NEEDED one too. I ordered a large one first and it was WAY too big(large would be better for trips or the beach). I ordered a medium one instead and it is perfect. The bags are a little stiff at first, but over time they mold to the shape of your shoulders. Another great thing, the bags stand by themselves, meaning my books stay in place. Finally, these bags are timeless. They never go out of style, I have friends who bought hers 5 years ago and its condition is the same as the one I bought 2 months ago. Also, a great gift idea!
Bittersweet is a bright orange/red. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first but it kinda grew on me. It is easy to identify at the pool, beach, etc.. I bring this to the pool in the summer and to softball tournaments in fall and early spring. The large is perfect for holding lots of snacks plus sunscreen and all the little extras I end up throwing in there at the last minute before zipping out the door. Nice large monogram really looks sharp.
As a teacher, I've purchased several of these types of bags over the years from various places. None of them come even close to the quality of this LLBean tote. Today, I accidentally spilled a drink inside the tote while getting out of my car. Amazingly, the water just beaded to the top of the fabric! I had a puddle in one corner of the bag that didn't even soak into the fabric Love this bag!!
