I've been buying LLBean "wash & wear" oxford shirts as my primary workplace attire for more than twenty years.
Once we started having kids, I couldn't expect my wife to iron shirts for me, and I certainly had no interest in taking on the task myself. I'll do my own laundry, no problem, but ironing? No thank you!
At first, I always selected the 60/40 cotton/poly blend fabric, whether buying a solid. stripe, or tattersall shirt. Great shirts, very comfortable, good-looking, and long-lasting.
In late 2005, when our home had been flooding after Hurricane Katrina, we found ourselves stranded and unable to return home after evacuating with only enough clothes for 2 or 3 days. Most of my new replacement wardrobe came from second-hand thrift stores and donations, but I was able to buy a few nice new things.
At just about that time, LLBean was advertising a new wrinkle-free 100% cotton fabric for my old favorite oxford shirts, so I decided to give it a try.
I bought two shirts made of the new fabric, and even now, after two-and-a-half years of regular wear and weekly laundering, they look like new. Not only do they not need to be ironed, they come out of the dryer looking like they've been to a professional laundry to be startched and pressed! The creases (where fabric is gathered at the cuffs and elsewhere) are still razor-sharp.
In fact, my ONLY problem with these 100% wrinkle-free cotton shirts is that they may never get worn and soft enough to appear as "casual" as my well-worn 60/40 oxford shirts have become!
I bought two of these shirts for my husband. Thought I'd try the "no-iron" once again. These are truly NO IRON - right out of the dryer and onto a hanger! They're well made, fit good, and my husband loves them. What more can I say?
