I usually love L.L.Bean, but this shirt is not the same one that arrived at my door; it's kind-of the same. They look similar, the numbers all match, but Bean has changed the shirt. The colors are more muted, and the lines as advertised are not as crisp. I just want a simple, classic, tattersail shirt. I haven't decided if I'll keep it or not, but (and I've been buying clothes from LL Bean for over twenty years) the company has changed and the quality is not what it used to be. I'll still purchase from the company, but not as much as before.
I have been purchasing LL Bean shirts for my husband for years. This latest batch was purchased in January. (6 months ago) They are already frayed at the collar and cuffs and the seam is coming apart at the sleeve. Won't be buying again. So disappointed - especially for the price per shirt. I wonder if manufacturer's changed? Quality sure did.
I own quite a few of these Wrinkle-Free Classic Oxford Cloth Shirts…nearly every color Bean has offered over the last 6 or 7 years. They are among my favorites…are of a sturdy oxford cloth like when I was in high school (early 60's), have a comfortable traditional fit and are wrinkle free. This new one is the Burnt Orange…looks more like Peach to me. I mean, it looks really nice; but I'm not seeing Burnt Orange. I don't know…maybe Peach isn't included in the fashion colors this year…whereas Burnt Orange could be…I really don't follow such things. Peach is just fine for spring and summer wear. At the sale price though, this is an unbeatable deal for a classic, easy to care for, traditional oxford shirt!
I love Bean for the ease of purchase and the fabulous customer service, but I'm beginning to think I need another vendor to buy my husband's shirts. (Yes, I buy them, and if I didn't I'm not sure what he'd be wearing to work.) The Bean shirts always wear out at the elbows, and I don't think his elbows are particularly pointy. Bean, can you please revisit quality issues? Just reading through these reviews leads me to believe many feel the same way. We're on your side, but you're losing us ....
