I bought 4 of these. My former "uniform" shirt was discontinued and I was looking for a replacement. Being built like an orangutan, I cannot buy at a department store and have to order on-line.
The good. These are wrinkle "proof". pull them out of the dryer, hang them and they look like they have been pressed, and very crisply. They have a nice heavy feel, too. And, so far, they are durable.
The bad. They are dirt magnets. A drop of olive oil will leave a permanent stain. No amount of pre-treatment or re-washing will get it out. Ring around the collar, too.
I have ordered many of these shirts for my husband over the years and they are wonderful in every way, but the French blue of this classic oxford cloth shirt is NOT the French blue of the pinpoint oxford cloth shirts. My husband prefers classic over pinpoint but this shade of French blue simply will not do for him.
We have purchased many of these shirts over time and had to return many as they developed tears in the fabric. The last one was purchased in December, and developed the tear within months. An email from LLBean stated as follows:
Dear Ms. Nestor:
I am terribly sorry that your oxford shirt have torn. As LLBean saw numerous returns coming in last fall for faulty fabric, the Men's Team was sent to the factories to discuss the problem. There were instances of the fabric splitting on the crease of the wrinkle resistant shirts.
The Quality Assurance Team created an action plan and the fabric issue has been corrected. I hope you order more shirts and give LLBean another chance. Sincerely, Andrea L.L.Bean Product Specialist
My wife and my daughter purchased several of these shirts from LL Bean about 5 years ago for a Xmas present for me. Do I like the quality? I now have every color of shirt that LL Bean has. Quality is outstanding. Shirts come out of the dryer ready to wear. I cannot say enough about these shirts. Trust me you will not find better quality and an outstanding fit. I have paid 100.00 plus for a British tailored shirt and it does not compare to this.
