I have truly enjoyed LL Bean's Oxford shirts I purchased in the past. But the two I just bought were cut smaller in the chest and the weight of the material was lighter than the same shirt I bought 14 months ago. They are the exact same model number and they are too tight. The previous shirts still look and fit wonderful. LL Bean's quality control must be slipping. What a shame.
Bought this shirt for my son for Christmas. He was very happy with it and said it truly is wrinkle resistant. It looked great right out of the dryer, and he loves the softness of the fabric. Would definitely recommend this shirt.
The LLB tattersall shirt has been a mainstay in my wardrobe since the 1970s. It is durable, comfortable and hardly wrinkles. It was one of the few long sleeve shirts still available from LLB in true fitting mens sizes (eg. 16.5 x 34). Most of the rest of their inventory is sized Medium, Large, etc. This type of sizing never fits me.
I am afraid that this product is being phased out after 40 years - they will probably reintroduce it in the small - medium -large sizing which I won't buy. Let's hope I am drawing the wrong conclusion from a dwindling stock.
This shirt is very comfortable. The fabric is soft but feels very substantial and thick. The shirt washes well and comes smooth and ready to wear right out of the dryer. The sleeve length 37 feels true to the size and the body of the shirt has generous length so it stays tucked in.
I took one start off for the fit being too roomy in the sleeves and the shoulders. The collar of size 17.5 fits just right, but the rest of the shirt feels as one of the larger size. Perhaps a trim cut would be more appropriate for someone tall and with long but not very thick arms. But overall, again, it is a very comfortable shirt suitable for layering underneath it in the cold weather.
