As per usual, this item should up on my door step within just a few days of ordering it. LLBean does delivery right. When I first opened the package I was impressed at just how attractive this shirt really is. The colors were bright and the the shirt felt very well made. When I tried it on I realized it was ENORMOUS. I checked the size instantly. 16 1/2 neck and 33 inch sleeves, just as I ordered it. I can't believe the amount of material in the torso. I am 5'11" tall and 185 lbs with a 42" chest and I was absolutely swimming in this shirt. I already allowed myself to fall in love with the pattern and I knew that LLBean shirts run a little large for me, so I decided that maybe running it through the wash would help it fit. That was a poor choice in that the shirt did not shrink at all. I know that some of the other shirts have a "Trim Fit" option, the tattersall did not, at least not when I ordered it. I cannot even wear a blazer over this shirt without the extra bunches of cloth showing through the jacket, let alone a sweater that is anything less than bulletproof. The neck and sleeves fit perfect, but the torso seems to be for either a body builder or an extremely obese man, neither of which I believe would have a 16 1/2 inch neck. I guess thats why they have the "Trim Fit" option for other shirts. I am mostly disappointed because it really is a lovely print and a well made item, except for the cut. It will sit in my closet as a reminder to just send it back and not use the washing machine as a tailor.
Sizing of this shirt is incorrect - it is HUGE!!! Too much material in this shirt and nowhere near the correct size. Material is also too stiff and thick to be comfortable. LL Bean would do well to more carefully select their vendors and standardize the sizing (an inch is an inch - 25.4 mm - all over the world).
This is a great shirt and looks like it will hold up for a long time. I travel frequently and this shirt is comfortable and well built. I can pull this out of a suitcase and know that the shirt will be in great condition, even if I didn't use great care in packing it. The shirt is a heavier weight and I would challenge this shirt up against any other out there.
I purchased two of these shirts 20 years ago a white and a yellow. The yellow one wore out last year and the white is stilling going strong. Still white and crisp and iron free. Truly a great buy.
